INTRODUCTION

I hail from a proud family of educators that has been instrumental in developing my natural immersion into public service.   I truly believe that government works when we elect individuals that have a thorough understanding of the issues coupled with an intense desire for public for service.   I am uniquely qualified for this position and I have a broad range of experiences that directly relate to this position.   My leadership qualities include but are not limited to:  honesty, critical listening, consistency, the ability to effectively communicate and a proven record of working well with diverse thinkers.  The quality that is most important for a council representative is the ability to make tough decisions and stand behind them while maintaining a calm presence.  Our theme is the renewal of trust and respect for the City Council by modeling respect and acknowledging those that have a different point of view.
5 KEY ISSUES
Honesty and Transparency
I have been a resident and active member of our community since 1995.  I have observed for myself and heard from hundreds of residents how important it is to be honest and transparent.  I believe that all government officials MUST be honest and transparent with everyone in which they meet.  I am a champion of  providing the public with all the information that we the governing body have so that WE can reach a comprehensive and thorough decision.  As your  council representative , I will ALWAYS be honest about what we are doing, why we are doing it and most importantly, AFTER I have heard from BOTH SIDES of the issue, I will communicate how I came to cast my vote.
Fiscally Responsible

As a husband and father of two beautiful daughters, one of which is currently attending college, I understand how important it is that EVERY dollar be spent efficiently and effectively.  There is no amount of money that we are voting on that I consider to be "too small" to EXHAUSTIVELY pursue all avenues to ensure we are getting the absolute best price on the goods and/or services.  I always remember it is YOUR money (and mine) that we are spending.

Leadership with Experience
Throughout my lifetime I have had many leadership roles.  They range from receiving my commission as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps to being appointed as the Director of Professional Standards Equity and Recruitment for the School District of Lee County to serving as a council member for 8 years for our beautiful City.  I am often asked what is the most important characteristic of a good leader.  My answer has consistently been, being able to make those that supported the minority position, feel that even though they did not prevail, that I will continue to listen and work hard for them.
Critical Listener and Effective Communicator

What the world needs now is not more talk, but more active listening and action.  There are hundreds of residents here in the Cape that can assist Council with EVERY piece of legislation that we will encounter.  We just have to be positioned to listen.  I am not only an active listener but also a critical listener.  I believe everyone has something important to say and I value their input.  Additionally, once I have come to a conclusion my objective is to be clear,, concise and specific when speaking.

Maintaining our Safe City

Cape Coral has consistently been viewed throughout the nation as one of the most desired cities in which to reside.  One of the main reasons that families continue to move to our beautiful city is because of our reputation for being safe.  The safety of our community does not magically happen.  As we continue to grow, it is incumbent upon all of us to make certain that we maintain the safety of all residents.  I will work hard and do what is necessary to support our police, fire and all first responders that risk their lives everyday to protect our community. I will also work just as hard to ensure that all of the other departments of our city government have the support they need to continue to adequately provide services to our community.
